Mayor to Report on Clean Air Program
Mayor Mark Schwing will give a report tonight on the status of the city’s clean air program.
The city gets money from the state every year to pay for programs that help clean the air. The funds can be used in many ways, Schwing said, such as adding bicycle lanes to the streets or putting in charging stations for electric cars.
Schwing said he does not yet know how much money the city has to spend on such programs this year.
In the past, councils have used the grant money to buy methanol-powered vehicles for city use.
He said he might propose the city buy electric vehicles.
