Local ‘Kirov’ Debut Postponed: Previously announced plans to present fall performances by a new, locally based, Russian-style company tentatively named the California Kirov Ballet have been postponed until next summer. “It was unrealistic for us to believe we could launch a major company in so short a time,” said Golden Koscuik, who runs the local Ballet Ecarte school with his wife, Nadezhda. The Koscuiks now hope that funding prospects in development will support the project by next summer. Other changes: California Kirov is no longer the working title for the company; for the time being, it will be identified as the West Coast Classical Ballet Society. Oleg Vinogradov, the artistic director of the Kirov Ballet in St. Petersburg, Russia, reportedly remains committed to the project, though no contracts have been signed.

Quinn Divorce Case Closed: Actor Anthony Quinn settled his divorce case in the wee hours Tuesday for an undisclosed sum, following testimony Monday from his son that Quinn abused wife Iolanda, 62, during their 31-year marriage. Settlement terms were not disclosed, but Iolanda Quinn’s attorney said she was “very satisfied.” The 82-year-old actor, a two-time Academy Award winner who has fathered 13 children by two wives and three mistresses (three children were with Iolanda), had said outside the New York court Monday that he was more interested in keeping his art collection than cash. The settlement followed testimony from Danny Quinn, 33, who accused his father of abusing his mother 20 years ago by beating her if she mentioned his infidelities. Quinn’s attorney had countered by charging that Iolanda Quinn was the abuser and said she was telling lies to try to win more than 90% of an estate worth tens of millions of dollars. Quinn left his wife for his former secretary, Kathy Benvin, 35, several years ago. They have two children. Following the settlement, Quinn’s lawyer said: “He is now shopping for a tuxedo because his next event will probably be at a chapel.”

Clear Waters Ahead: Stu Cook and Doug “Cosmo” Clifford, founding members of Creedence Clearwater Revival, have won an appeals court decision allowing them to use the name Creedence Clearwater Revisited for their band. A previous lower court ruling had forced the pair to use the name Cosmo’s Factory when touring this summer; John Fogerty, the most successful founding CCR member, had obtained a temporary injunction against the Revisited moniker last October, claiming that fans would be confused and might think he was part of the group. Friday’s decision by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, however, overturned the injunction, ruling, in part: “The record contains no evidence that the American public actually was confused or led to believe that Fogerty was associated with Revisited.” Creedence Clearwater Revival, which disbanded in 1972, continues to sell more than a million records each year. Clifford and Cook said they plan to resume touring immediately as Creedence Clearwater Revisited.

Fill-in programming will change daily until a new host is named, KLSX said.
