Home runs can come in bunches and Thursday the Oakland Athletics hit six in a hurry.

The A’s hit six homers--a club-record four in one inning--off Steve Avery and Kerry Lacy to defeat Boston, 13-6, breaking a season-high six-game winning streak for the Red Sox.

Oakland hit home runs off Avery in each of the first three innings and three off Lacy in the third, only the 40th time in major league history a team has hit four in one inning.

“The ball sure was carrying in that one inning,” said Oakland’s Jose Canseco, who hit his second home run in two games.
