Rhino update--San Jose advanced to the RHI Western Conference Finals by beating St. Louis, 2-0, in the mini-game Sunday. The Rhinos finished the regular season with a flourish, winning five of their final six games. Their only loss, however, was to the Bullfrogs, 9-6, in Anaheim. Rhino defenseman Radek Hamr scored the winning goal in the 8-6 victory in Game 2 and the mini-game victory.

Bullfrog update--After surviving a closely contested first-round series with the Blades, the Bullfrogs will attempt to advance to the RHI finals for the third time in six seasons. Bullfrog goalkeeper David Goverde was named RHI goalie of the week for his performance in the Blades series. He turned away 37 of 39 shots in the 7-2 Game 1 victory and stopped all six shots in the sudden-death mini-game victory. After tonight’s game, the series moves to San Jose Monday for Game 2 and a mini-game if necessary. The Rhinos and Bullfrogs have met in playoff series twice before. In 1994, the Bullfrogs swept a first-round series. In the 1995 semifinals, the Rhinos won the mini-game 2-1 and went on to win the Murphy Cup.
