The argument that docking reduces the chance of infection may have some validity, but wouldn’t simply keeping long ears clean work just as well? Maybe owners are just too lazy or obsessed with current dog fashion. And as for de-barking, a good training program will stop that problem. . . . Only when people wise up to the cruelty of cosmetic surgery on animals will chop-shop proprietors like [Robert] LaBounty become a thing of the past.
