Windows Smashed in 30 Cars at Agency

A man frustrated about the repossession of his truck allegedly snuck into a used-car dealership Wednesday and used a hammer to smash the windows of about 30 cars, police said.

Officers said they followed a trail of blood from the debris at the A&A; Auto Sales to the home of Alejandro Perez Palmas, 26, who admitted he had cut his hands during the outburst.

“He felt he hadn’t been treated fairly with his truck, and he decided he was going to pay somebody back,” Sgt. Joe Johnson said Thursday. “He was gathering anger over all this and decided to do something about it last night.”

Palmas was being held Thursday at the County Jail on suspicion of felony vandalism, the charge for damage in excess of $5,000.

A witness called police about 10:30 p.m., Johnson said. After the trail led to Palmas’ home on nearby Enterprise Drive, officers said they found bloody clothes and a hammer in the suspect’s possession.

The dealership at 12241 Westminster Ave. was still littered Thursday with shards of glass and splattered with blood.

“It was a real shock when I got here,” owner Andy Duong said. “The place is a mess.”

He added that he was unaware of any repossession involving Palmas.
