Heart Assn. Plans Fund-Raising Walks

Share

Not only is walking good for the heart, but it’s good for the American Heart Assn.

To raise money for the group and boost awareness about the dangers of heart disease, three 5-kilometer “heart walks” are scheduled for Ventura County over the next two months.

Registering for the walks is free, but participants are encouraged to help raise money for the association through pledges.

In the 1995-96 fiscal year, the association spent $251 million for heart disease research, education and community programs. Heart disease is the nation’s--and Ventura County’s--leading cause of death.
