Barbara Journet has been tapped as the new head of Ventura County government’s personnel division, county Chief Administrator Lin Koester announced Wednesday.

Journet, 47, has worked in county government since 1985, after eight years as a management and personnel analyst for the city of Oxnard.

Her new position pays a $95,000 annual salary.

“Barbara clearly was the most qualified candidate for this position,” Koester said in a statement. “Her educational background and professional work experience have prepared her for this career move.”

Journet replaces Ronald W. Komers, who resigned in August after 14 years in the post to take a similar position in Riverside County.

Journet has served as acting personnel director since Komers’ departure and was chosen for the permanent position above six other applicants following a statewide recruitment.

A native of Ventura, Journet attended local schools, including the Ventura County Community College system and the Ventura campus of Cal State Northridge.
