Only $100 Million?

In his article “ ‘Doctor Zzzhivago’?” (Dec. 3), Patrick Goldstein wrote that Robert Zemeckis’ film “Contact” “received a lackluster box-office reception.”
“Contact” grossed more than $100 million in the U.S and Canada alone. Since when is $100 million considered lackluster? If the $200-million budgeted film like “Titanic” grosses only $100 million, now, that would be lackluster, don’t you think?
