New Mayor Also Leads State’s League of Cities

City Councilman Ronald Bates, who recently took the helm as president of the League of California Cities, is slated Monday to become the city’s next mayor when the position rotates between council members.
Bates said his objective is to ensure the financial stability needed to provide services. He also wants to attract businesses.
Bates replaces Alice Jempsa, who will stay on the council.
