Council OKs Plans for Tennis Facilities
Ending a five-year delay, the city will move forward with plans to build restrooms and a tennis shop next to tennis courts at Camino Real Park in east Ventura.
Almost $200,000 was set aside for the project in the city’s 1990-92 budget. But the project evolved over time into ambitious plans to build a fenced and sunken tennis court.
As the scope of the project grew, so did the cost, effectively stalling construction.
City Council members Monday ended the delay, unanimously voting to proceed with the project as originally conceived, and directing city staff to submit construction drawings.
The restroom and tennis shop complex should be completed by next fall.
