Creation of Beach for Dogs to Be Discussed at Meeting
- Share via
A group that for two years has been hounding city officials to create a beach for dogs will hold a public meeting tonight with city and county officials.
Daryl Barnett, president of FREEPLAY (Friendly Environmentally Evolved Pet Lovers Alliance Yes), said her group has gathered more than 3,000 signatures in support of a dog beach in Los Angeles.
The group plans to ask county Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and City Councilwoman Ruth Galanter to establish a six-month pilot program for an off-leash beach in Venice or Marina del Rey. Staff members for both officials will attend the session.
The meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Westminster Senior Citizens Center, 1234 Pacific Ave., Venice.
