The NCAA Eligibility Appeals Committee rejected Cincinnati’s appeal for early reinstatement of senior Ruben Patterson.

The 6-foot-6 forward, the Bearcats’ leading scorer returning from last season, will remain ineligible until the Jan. 18 game at Louisville.

Patterson averaged 13.7 points per game and 5.6 rebounds last season.

However, the study found that in other sports, Syracuse athletes graduated at or above the same rate as other students, said David C. Smith, dean of admissions and financial aid.

Female basketball players are graduating at a 100% rate and football players graduate at about the same rate as other students at Syracuse, Smith said Tuesday.

Smith declined to disclose the actual graduation numbers.
