Public Forum Will Focus on Dog Beach

City and police officials will hold a public meeting Wednesday to consider ways to keep Dog Beach clean.
“Users must realize that if we don’t get a strong following, we might lose the beach,” said Martin Senat, a Dog Beach volunteer. “We need committed people.”
Officials have complained dog owners allow their pets off leashes and have failed to pick up after them.
Since then, volunteers and city staff members have been working to improve conditions at the site, just south of Bolsa Chica State Beach.
Signs to aid a volunteer cleanup program are being posted, and officials are creating flyers to educate dog owners about leash requirements and health hazards associated with animal waste.
The city also is placing more waste-bag dispensers in the parking lot off Pacific Coast Highway and Golden West Street.
The 7 p.m. meeting will be in Room B8 at City Hall, 2000 Main St.
