Boxing’s Odd Couple Might Put on a Show
WBA champion Ike Quartey is 34-0-1 and has 29 knockouts, but Times writer Steve Springer doesn’t think Quartey can give Oscar De La Hoya “a good fight.” It seems to me that Steve Springer thinks of Oscar De La Hoya as a god of some sort. De La Hoya is a very good boxer, but looking at the possible options, I think Felix Trinidad would knock him out, Pernell Whitaker would get screwed again, David Reid would kill him, and Ike Quartey, if he might not beat him, would give him an even fight.

With Terry Norris now eliminated from the Oscar De La Hoya sweepstakes, Felix Trinidad has emerged as the rightful challenger. If this fight is made, it will mean that “Felix and Oscar” finally will be able to settle their differences in the ring.
