Trustee Ferryman to Lead School Board
James M. Ferryman has been elected by a unanimous vote of his colleagues to serve as president of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District Board of Trustees for the next year.
Ferryman, who succeeds Martha Fluor, represents Costa Mesa on the board. He was first elected in 1994.
Ferryman said he looks forward to leading the board while it makes some tough decisions, including the hiring of a new superintendent.
Mac Bernd will leave as superintendent at the end of the year to head the Arlington Independent School District in Texas.
