David Sivulich scored 22 points as St. Mary’s handed highly touted Fresno State its fourth consecutive defeat with a 73-65 victory Tuesday night at Fresno.

The Gaels (5-2) won for the fourth time in five games thanks largely to 15 three-pointers spread among five players.

Once ranked No. 12 but now unranked, the Bulldogs (3-4) lost for the first time at home this season despite 26 points from Terrance Roberson, 21 in the second half.

No. 9 Stanford 63, San Diego State 42--The Cardinal, looking lethargic in its first game in 10 days, won at San Diego to improve to 6-0. Kris Weems scored 11 points and Mark Madsen had 10 rebounds for Stanford. The Aztecs fell to 3-5.

San Diego State missed its first 13 shots and didn’t break double digits until there was 1:27 left in the first half. The halftime score was 27-14.

Villanoa 68, No. 16 Temple 57--Freshman Marvin O’Connor made two big three-point shots in the second half as the Wildcats (3-4) held off the Owls (6-2) at Villanova, Pa.

Temple Coach John Chaney was ejected with 15:41 to play after being assessed two technical fouls.

Howard Brown led Villanova with 19 points.

Temple’s Rasheed Brokenborough finished five for 18, three for seven from three-point range, and Pepe Sanchez was three for 16, one for 10 from behind the arc.
