Two Oxnard men were ambushed early Saturday morning and their car and other valuables were stolen after they were beaten with flashlights and brass knuckles in a vacant Colonia Park house.

Oxnard Police Officer Curtis Smith said two of the suspects were arrested about 1 a.m. He identified them as Victor Robledo, 20, and Anna-Lilia Saffa, 26, both of Oxnard. They are accused of being in a group of eight to 10 people that beat up Juan Ramirez, 19, and Herman Jaimes, 22.

According to police, Ramirez and Jaimes were getting gas at a Mobil station at 1st Street and North Oxnard Boulevard when two women--one in her late teens and the other in her mid-20s--slipped through an unlocked door and into the rear seat of the car the two men were driving.

At first, the women asked for a ride to an unknown address on Cooper Road. But then the women changed their story and said they were being followed by people who would hurt them if they didn’t follow their orders, Smith said.

Ramirez and Jaimes were then directed to drive them to an area south of Colonia Park on Lupita Street, where they were forced from the car and into a vacant house, Smith said. The two men were then assaulted by as many as 10 people wielding flashlights and brass knuckles, Smith said.

The assailants robbed them of $40, two gold chains, a watch and the keys to their car. Both victims were able to flee and contact police.

The two suspects were arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail on charges of carjacking, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and battery. The vehicle of one of the suspects still at large was described as a gray Toyota Corolla.
