Food Pantry Falls Short of Goal
Thousands of needy Ventura County families enjoyed healthy holiday meals this week, but the charity group that provided them said it fell short of its goal.
Representatives of Food Share, an Oxnard-based group that distributed 60,000 pounds of food this week, said they had hoped to collect 100,000 pounds during their Holiday Challenge food drive.
However, Executive Director Jim Mangis said he is encouraged by the number of schools and Scout troops that participated in the drive and by the $3,892 that was donated in addition to the food.
