There hadn’t been a serious fight in the NBA since last May. Corliss Williamson and Derrick Coleman put an end to that streak Sunday night.

Williamson and Coleman were ejected after a furious fight in which several punches landed during the fourth quarter of Sacramento’s 92-90 victory over Philadelphia at Sacramento.

“I saw them going after it pretty good,” King center Olden Polynice said, “But I didn’t think it would be extended. Whew! That was really a big one.”

After order was restored, the 76ers’ Allen Iverson scored four points in a 6-0 run that created an 87-87 tie. But Richmond then connected on his fifth three-point shot of the game, giving the Kings the lead for good.

Minnesota 93, Detroit 89--Stephon Marbury scored 10 of his team-high 19 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Timberwolves to a 93-89 comeback victory over the Pistons at Auburn Hills, Mich.

The victory, Minnesota’s first in Detroit since 1992, was the Timberwolves’ sixth in eight games and moved them to .500 (14-14) for the first time since they were 6-6.

Miami 101, Indiana 90--Alonzo Mourning scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Tim Hardaway had 21 points and 10 assists as the Heat defeated the Pacers at Miami.

Both teams entered with 18-9 records, and Miami spoiled the Pacers’ bid to post their best start after 28 games since joining the NBA. Miami had lost its two previous meetings with Indiana this season.

Seattle 106, Phoenix 97--Gary Payton had 24 points, 10 assists and six rebounds as the SuperSonics improved their NBA-best road record to 11-4 with a victory over the Suns at Phoenix.

Detlef Schrempf added 25 points and nine rebounds for Seattle.

Utah 89, Vancouver 88--John Stockton scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, including a wide-open jumper with 2.3 seconds left that gave the Jazz a victory over the Grizzlies at Vancouver.

Karl Malone led the Jazz with 31 points, breaking the 20-point mark for the 28th time in 29 games this season, and added a game-high 13 rebounds.

Portland 82, San Antonio 79--The Trail Blazers came back from a miserable start and rallied behind Rasheed Wallace to defeat the Spurs at Portland, ending the Spurs’ seven-game winning streak.

Wallace scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half, eight in the fourth quarter.

Isaiah Rider scored 14 and Arvydas Sabonis had 13, including 12 in the second half.

NBA Notes

Danny Manning strained an abdominal muscle late in the first quarter and Jason Kidd twisted his right ankle with 5:44 remaining in the Suns’ loss to Seattle. The Suns said both players would be evaluated today.
