Player/coach Carl Nichols also moved back to the retired list. Mission Viejo has won four of its last six games, but all of the victories were at home. The Vigilantes are 4-11 on the road.

Crusher update--Sonoma County, which finished last in the Southern Division in 1996, is closing in on the first-half pennant this year. With Sunday’s victory over Grays Harbor, the Crushers have won seven of their last 10, are the only Southern team above .500 and lead Chico by five games with 11 left. First baseman David Mowry has a 10-game hitting streak. He and outfielder Kyle Washington are the power threats, combining for 24 homers and 87 runs batted in.
