ZODIAC TONIGHT

Share

Opponent--Pumas UNAM

Site--Santa Ana Stadium

Time--7:30

Zodiac update--Taking a break from its A-League schedule, the Zodiac will step up a level, playing a team from Mexico’s first division. The Zodiac has been struggling with defense (see Friday’s 4-1 loss to Nashville, for example) and trying to blend several new players onto the squad. Goalkeeper Mike Gartlan says there is no reason to panic. “We just need to find the right combination and that’s going to take some time,” Gartlan said. The team will have to do most of its searching on the road. Starting with Friday’s game at Atlanta, the Zodiac has four consecutive road games.

UNAM update--The Pumas, a perennially strong team in the Mexican first division, are on a training trip in California. They also are scheduled to play another A-League team, the California Jaguars (Saturday), and two other teams before returning July 13 to their base in Mexico City. Tickets for tonight’s game are $12 in advance; $15 at the gate. Call (714) 479-0880 for more information. Galaxy goalkeeper Jorge Campos, a former player for Pumas, is scheduled to make an appearance to sign autographs.
