Suspect in Domestic Dispute Shot, Killed During Chase in Echo Park
Police shot and killed a man who led officers on a short chase in the Echo Park area, authorities said Friday.
Officers were responding to a domestic dispute about 9 a.m. when they spotted the man choking his girlfriend, Los Angeles Police Lt. Tony Alba said.
The pursuit began in the 2100 block of Clinton Avenue after officers ordered the man to move away from the woman and he jumped into a white van and sped away, Alba said.
Police fired 20 to 30 shots into the van to stop the driver a short distance away near Reservoir Street and Angelus Avenue, Alba said.
The driver died at the scene. His name has not been released.
