The teenager accused of raping and murdering a 7-year-old girl in a casino bathroom was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Tuesday after authorities quietly extradited him from California.

Jeremy Strohmeyer, 18, of Long Beach, was taken from the Los Angeles County Jail on Tuesday afternoon and flown to Las Vegas. He was booked into jail about 3:30 p.m., according to Metro Police.

Strohmeyer is charged with the May 25 killing of Sherrice Iverson, who authorities say was raped and strangled in a bathroom at the Primadonna Resort in the state-line town of Primm.

Police believe Strohmeyer is the man seen on a surveillance camera following the girl into a women’s restroom near a video arcade at the resort. He will be arraigned today at 10 a.m. in Justice Court in Jean, Nev., about 35 miles south of Las Vegas.

According to police, the extradition “was accomplished as quietly as possible in order to protect the well-being of the 18-year-old suspect, and to make this step as impartial as possible.”

In a court affidavit filed in Nevada, Strohmeyer reportedly told police he was playing hide-and-seek with Sherrice when he became angered, followed her into the restroom and sexually assaulted her, then killed her.
