Connecticut-based Solo Flights, which offers tours “for youthful spirits over the age of 50,” is taking reservations for its twice yearly five-night tour of New York City. The next tour runs from Sept. 30 to Oct. 5 and includes five nights at the first-class Helmsley Windsor Hotel, a welcome dinner at Tavern on the Green and a farewell dinner at Sardi’s. Sightseeing includes a tour of Lincoln Center, Philharmonic Hall, the Metropolitan Opera House, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Immigration Museum, the observation deck of the Empire State Building, South Street Seaport and a Broadway musical. Cost is $1,195 per person, double occupancy. Air fare from Los Angeles is extra.

Solo Flights also has begun a series of tours abroad, including:

* Spain--10 days from Dec. 26 to Jan. 4. The tour includes Madrid, Cordoba, Seville, Jerez de la Frontera, Torremolinos and Granada with a visit to the Alhambra and Costa del Sol.

The Piccadilly Inn Hotels in Central California are offering discounts for guests over 55. There are three Piccadilly Inns, all in Fresno. All the inns feature a private garden courtyard, free parking and irons and ironing boards. Local attractions include Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon National Park and the Blossom Trail, plus shopping malls, parks and gardens. The inns are located near the Fresno Air Terminal, and for those arriving by air there is a free shuttle from the airport. Rates are discounted for travelers over 55 and are always available. The rack rate is $94 single, $104 double. The senior rate is $68 per room (one to four guests).

The Piccadilly Inns offer deluxe guest rooms and suites, all rooms have coffee makers, hair dryers, remote control TV with video, two telephones, vanity area with additional sink and clock radios. Some rooms feature refrigerators, microwaves, VHS/VCR, patios and balconies. There are exercise facilities or a complimentary pass to a local health club. Entertainment nearby: Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theatre, Wild Water Adventure at Clovis Lakes, Old Town Clovis, Blackbeard’s Family Fun Center, plus major golf courses and tennis courts.
