Dennis Schatzman; Reporter, Columnist for Black Papers
Dennis Schatzman, 48, a reporter and syndicated columnist for the Los Angeles Sentinel and other black community newspapers throughout the country. He emerged as an outspoken sympathizer with O.J. Simpson during the double-murder trial. John Mack, president of the Los Angeles Urban League, once said that Schatzman “sometimes gets a little carried away and goes overboard in the advocacy role. But that is what happens when you have a crusading reporter.” Schatzman also was a longtime participant in the Congress of Racial Equality. He is survived by his wife, Saundra, and daughter, Cicely.
