Whatever the outcome of the Brooks situation, Capitol now finds its biggest moneymaker of the year in limbo. And with pressure to make quarterly financial projections ever more critical in the corporate entertainment world, that will be hard to cover for.
“You can’t make up [the lack of] a Garth Brooks record,” says Quigley. “It’s like when [pitcher] Greg Maddux goes down, the Atlanta Braves have a problem. Of course this is a problem, but we’re a big company and doing fine financially. Capitol Nashville will take longer to get to the [projected financial] numbers, but we’re making alternative plans with other big projects.”
