MTA, Clerks Union Reach Tentative Contract Accord
- Share via
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Transportation Communications Union representing 600 clerks have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor contract.
Talks continue with the Amalgamated Transit Union, which represents 1,700 mechanics and maintenance workers. The MTA already settled with the United Transportation Union, representing bus and train operators.
The proposed contract calls for no layoffs or reduction in wages and benefits for clerks, plus an 8% to 10% raise over the next three years. It allows the MTA to hire part-time union workers to reduce overtime. The contract still must be ratified by the rank-and-file and the MTA board.
