School Board Will Televise Meetings
Seeking a larger audience, the Ventura Unified School District will begin broadcasting its board meetings on cable television.
The district will transmit its first live televised meeting from City Council chambers today at 7:30 p.m. Residents who are unable to attend the meeting can now watch it at home by switching to Channel 6, the local public-access channel.
The five-member board is scheduled to discuss the following matters with school district officials:
* Whether to accept school Supt. Joseph Spirito’s recommendations for candidates to fill the vacant principal posts at Montalvo and Portola elementary schools and Ventura High School.
* The appropriate use of the Internet at the district’s 27 campuses.
* The quarterly report of investments for the school district.
* The district’s facility plans and the projects’ estimated timelines.
