South Bay Municipal Judge James R. Brandlin has been appointed by Gov. Pete Wilson to the position of Los Angeles Superior Court judge. He will replace Judge Hiroshi Fujisaki, who retired July 6.

Fujisaki recently presided over the civil court trial in Santa Monica of former football star O.J. Simpson, who was accused of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Lyle Goldman.

Brandlin, 39, who has worked in the South Bay since 1993, returned to his courtroom Monday to pack after a vacation.
