Andy Pettitte won his fourth consecutive decision, pitching the New York Yankees past the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-3, Monday night.
Pettitte (12-5) gave up three runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Baseball--Because of incorrect information provided by the Associated Press, The Times reported erroneously in Tuesday’s editions that New York Yankee outfielder Mark Whiten was arrested on a charge of second-degree sexual assault. He has not been charged.
Pettitte picked off Jack Voigt at first to end the third inning and trapped Kelly Stinnett in the seventh. The left-hander leads the AL with 11 pickoffs.
Yankee outfielder Mark Whiten was arrested in the afternoon on a charge of second-degree sexual assault involving a 31-year-old woman. He was released on a $10,000 bond but missed the Yankees’ flight home.
