Beulah ‘Boots’ O’Brien; Ex-Beauty Salon Owner

Beulah “Boots” O’Brien, a businesswoman, died at her Ventura home Monday. She was 78.

O’Brien was born March 23, 1919, in Marysville, Tenn. When she was 4, her family moved to Ventura County. In 1938, O’Brien graduated from the Santa Barbara School of Cosmetology, then went to work at Mr. Daniel’s Beauty Salon in Ventura. She soon bought the business and changed the name to Boots’ Beauty Salon. She retired in 1987.

O’Brien is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Wann of Galt, Calif., and nephew, Wayne Parkins of Canyon Lake, Calif.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow in Ivy Lawn Funeral Home, Ventura.
