State Grant Assists Collection of Used Oil
The city has received a $126,593 grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board to continue its program to collect used oil.
Under the 4-year-old program, 13 local service stations and auto parts stores were certified by the state as oil collection centers. The sites have accepted more than 25,000 gallons of used motor oil so far.
City officials said they will use the grant money over the next three years to continue the program, provide information about the collection centers and inform the public of the importance of recycling.
