3 Wounded When Gunman Opens Fire Outside Restaurant

A loud fight in a restaurant parking lot here ended in a bloody shooting that left three Long Beach men hospitalized, police said Sunday.

What police are calling an apparent gang-related shooting occurred shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday at the restaurant in the 5900 block of Lincoln Avenue.

Police said a man in his mid- to late teens on foot approached a large group of people eating outside the restaurant and demanded to know “where they were from,” police said, a standard gang greeting.

The man pulled a handgun and began firing into the crowd, then fled in a waiting a car.

Police said a 21-year-old man was shot in the throat and was in critical condition at UCI Medical Center. A 20-year-old man shot in the left arm and wrist, and an 18-year-old male shot in the right leg were treated at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital.

Their identities were not released.
