Community Summit Focuses on Safety

Residents interested in discussing solutions to Ventura County’s problems of youth crime and violence are invited to the “Safer Neighborhood Summit” today.

Sponsored by the Ventura Interfaith Ministerial Assn., the four-hour program in Ventura will focus on proven methods to increase community safety.

Speakers and participants will include representatives from the Ventura Unified School District, Ventura Police Neighborhood Watch and business and religious leaders.

The program, which includes slide shows, round-table discussions and presentations, focuses on successful methods already in place in Alameda and Orange counties, organizers said.

Limited space is available for the morning and evening sessions of the event, which will be held at Ventura Townehouse senior housing, 4900 Telegraph Road. The morning program runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The evening program runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The same program will be presented in each time period.

The fee--$15 for adults, $8 for youths--includes lunch or dinner.
