The family of an 18-year-old gang member who was gunned down on a street in the Florence area plans to offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the slaying, the victim’s brother said Tuesday.

Edgar Jauregui, 18, of Los Angeles died in the arms of his younger brother Elvis near the scene of Monday’s 9:30 p.m. shooting at 66th Street and Miramonte Boulevard, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Kim Unland.

“I’m not asking for a revenge shooting,” said 16-year-old Elvis Jauregui, who said he is not a gang member. “I just want the guys that did this to pay.”

The victim was driving alone in the area when he tried to make a U-turn at the intersection, Unland said. The suspects fired from another car, hitting Jauregui several times in the upper body, the deputy said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Sgt. Rod Kusch or Sgt. Don Garcia at (213) 890-5500.
