Crane Mishap Injures Disneyland Employee

Share

A Disneyland employee was injured Friday when a crane being used to renovate the Matterhorn roller coaster toppled and slammed into the man’s leg as he stood on the ground.

The injured worker, who was not identified, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Orange where he was listed in stable condition. Disneyland officials said the accident occurred at 3:30 a.m. as the crane was lifting a bin full of dirt for landscaping.

An Anaheim police spokesman said the department was not investigating the matter, adding that job site accidents are investigated by state safety officials.

The park opened for business later Friday morning, but attractions close to the Matterhorn, including the Teacups and Alice in Wonderland, were closed so officials could check for damage. The Matterhorn has been closed for renovation since September.
