UC Irvine’s Wen Finishes 25th at 49er Golf Tournament
Andrew Wen of UC Irvine shot a 69 Friday in the final round of the 49er Collegiate Classic men’s golf tournament to finish tied for 25th place at seven-over-par 217.
Teammate Mike Lawrence shot a 68 at the par-70 Virginia Country Club in Long Beach to finish tied for 28th at 218. The Anteaters finished tied for seventh with a three-round total of 874.
Texas El Paso’s Ralph Gemoets and Pacific’s Florian Bruhns were co-medalists at one-under-par 209.
UCLA won the tournament with an eight-over-par team score of 848. Long Beach State was 11th with 885. John Mallinger had the 49ers’ low score with a 217.
In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:
UC Santa Barbara 3, UC Irvine 0--Erin McCown had 14 kills to lead UC Santa Barbara (23-3, 11-2) in a 15-11, 15-4, 15-9 victory. UC Irvine (7-19, 2-11) was led by Larissa Carter and Marcia Bradbeer with nine kills each.
