School Board Map to Include Bristol Street Lot

The school board has voted to draw up maps incorporating 2828 N. Bristol St. within the district, a preliminary step toward annexing the prime property.
The city has worked to have vacant buildings on the land demolished. The 15-acre parcel is zoned for homes.
However, the Santa Ana Unified School District has been eyeing the parcel as a high school site and could designate it as such. Many area residents have opposed a school, saying it would increase already heavy traffic.
Monday’s action passed 3 to 2 with board members Robert W. Balen and Audrey Yamagata-Noji dissenting, Balen said. The action will allocate $5,000 for the new maps and legal descriptions of 2828 N. Bristol and five surrounding parcels.
The land is currently within the Orange Unified School District, although it has granted conceptual approval to the annexation.
