Guard Brent Barry, who was nicknamed Air Bones after winning the 1996 NBA slam dunk championship, faces Air Jordan tonight when the Clippers meet Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls at the Sports Arena.

It will be the first game that Barry has started against Jordan.

“I’m not saying anything about Michael Jordan that you’re going to write in the paper,” Barry said. “You don’t talk about God behind his back.”

Hall of Fame coach Jack Ramsay thinks the Clippers are playing to the level of their talent.

“They may be the least talented team in the NBA,” Ramsay said after watching the Clippers give up 45 points in the first quarter of Wednesday night’s loss at Miami. “They made the playoffs last year, but how many games did they win? How many players do the Clippers have who could start for other teams?”

However, Ramsay, now a TV commentator for Heat games, says Coach Bill Fitch gets the most out of what he has to work with.

“The Clippers may win more games than teams with more talent because they’re well coached,” said Ramsay, the NBA’s sixth winningest coach behind Atlanta’s Lenny Wilkens, Fitch, retired coaches Red Auerbach and Dick Motta and Heat Coach Pat Riley.
