Gang Member Gets 3 Life Terms in Attempted Killings
An 18th Street gang member convicted of trying to kill three people, including a woman who owed the gang drug money, was sentenced Friday to three consecutive life prison terms.
Jose Mariscal, 23, was convicted Sept. 16 in Los Angeles Superior Court on three counts of attempted murder, with special allegations that he used a firearm, planned the attacks and inflicted great bodily injury.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael Kraut said Mariscal shot the woman who owed drug money, and two of her friends, after confronting them April 20 as they tried to flee in a truck.
