Forest Service Calls End to Fire Season

With the recent rains, The fire season in Los Padres National Forest is over, U.S. Forest Service officials declared last week.

Although restrictions on campfires in the national forest were lifted, visitors are still asked to contact Forest Service personnel about year-round rules on campfires, a spokeswoman said.

There were 62 wildfires in Los Padres National Forest this season, which burned 51,258 acres. Most were small fires of less than a quarter-acre.

The largest fire was the Logan fire in San Luis Obispo County.

On Nov. 17, the Ventura County Fire Department also called an end to the fire season.
