DeVallon Scott, 87, screenwriter whose 15 films include “The Maverick Queen” starring Barbara Stanwyck. Scott, who was born in New York and graduated from UCLA, worked for major studios including MGM, Columbia, Warner Bros. and RKO for three decades. Among his other screenplays were “She Went to the Races” with Ava Gardner, “A Letter for Evie” with Marsha Hunt and Hume Cronyn, and “Blackbeard the Pirate” starring Robert Young and Linda Darnell. During the 1950s and 1960s, Scott wrote for television, including such popular series as “Maverick,” “Captain Midnight,” “Hawaiian Eye,” “Fury,” “The Millionaire,” “Adventures in Paradise” and “Broken Arrow.” On Monday at the Motion Picture & Television Hospital in Woodland Hills.
