Festival Celebrates Heritage of the Grape

Stomping grapes between your toes, tasting wine and hors d’oeuvres, and poring over hundreds of historic photographs.

These will be some of the offerings Sunday as the San Juan Capistrano Historical Society holds its third annual wine tasting celebration, “Las Primicias” or the first fruits.

The event, from 3 to 6 p.m. at O’Neill Museum, will also include a reenactment of the Mission ceremony in which the first grapes of the harvest are presented for a blessing.

A $10 donation includes a glass of wine and food. Callaway Winery of Temecula and Galleano Winery of Cucamonga Valley will provide the wine for the event. The museum is at 31831 Los Rios St., San Juan Capistrano.
