Concert to Benefit Victim of Attack

Share

A benefit concert will be held Oct. 20 to help Carol R. Guscott pay for nine surgeries on her acid-scarred face.

In 1994, the 36-year-old woman was blinded and disfigured when two thugs threw battery acid on her face in her Jamaican hardware store because she wouldn’t buy their shoddy lumber.

An American tourist in Jamaica heard about Guscott’s plight and put her in touch with an Orange County plastic surgeon, who treated her and performed a surgery two years ago. A Fullerton-based civic group arranged for additional free operations on her right eye, which helped her regain some vision. A relief fund was set up to try to raise the $65,000 needed for her nine reconstructive surgeries.
