Botanic Garden to Bloom With Fall Plant Sale

Share

Ferns, bougainvillea and ornamental grasses are among the plants and flowers that will be sold at the South Coast Botanic Garden’s fall plant sale today and Sunday.

The annual event raises money for maintaining and developing the Palos Verdes Peninsula garden, which is funded by Los Angeles County and the South Coast Botanic Garden Foundation.

The garden covers 87 acres on the site of a former landfill.

It includes a plot of land where children learn to grow plants and vegetables, and a garden used by the visually impaired to explore their senses of smell and touch.

The Botanic Garden, which is open to the public, also offers lectures and tours and is widely used by schools for field trips.

The plant sale is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday at 26300 Crenshaw Boulevard. General admission is $5. Senior citizens and students are $3 and children are $1.
