The Marv Lesson

Share

This is taken from a WBS-online debate on consensual sex between adults. Most of the session was focused around the Marv Albert / Vanessa Perhach case.

Trixter474: As predicted, Marv Albert would avoid jail.

DavidFla1: When is trial set for?

Hawk Rulz: Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 24.

Trixter474: Marv’s reputation is ruined forever.

Hooya1: What is her name again?

Banzi: Her name is Vanessa Perhach. I think.

sheSport: But wasn’t she his longtime lover for years?

Hawk Rulz: Yes, about 10 or so.

sheSport: So the problem is that he was pushing the level of sex and sodomy too far?

Trixter474: Virginia’s shield law has something to do with it. Her past can’t be used against her, although Albert’s past was fair game. That made his case null and void.

Hawk Rulz: I just feel he wanted to get the ordeal over with. He pleaded guilty. He admitted he did something wrong.

sheSport: We all should choose wisely who to have sex with these days.

FrisinaC: Amen!

POL-INC: Very true.

Trixter474: I agree also, but when you have TV showing sex and violence all the time, then say this kind of behavior isn’t acceptable by those who work for TV, something is very wrong.

commie: If this was the top producer of a show or an actor who had performed a misdemeanor (which many of them have), do you think they would get the ax?

Rot:Ironsmile: Probably not. I mean, look at Hugh Grant.

POL-INC: He would have to pay a fine, but he probably won’t serve a day in prison anyway. First-time offenses of such nature usually don’t go to prison. He probably will do some sort of community service.

Rot:Ironsmile: Hope he chooses partners more wisely.

FrisinaC: It’s all so crazy, but when a guy has spent 29 or more seasons as voice for the Knicks and Lakers then embarrasses his family and friends and reputation, it’s no laughing matter.

Xeana575: He lost a $2-million-a-year contract.

slim30: I think he will get over the embarrassment. We as a society will move on to other things.

Hawk Rulz: Yes, he was no angel by any means, but who is. I feel what he did in the privacy of his bedroom was his business.
