Ice Dogs Fall to the Wolves in a Shootout
Wendall Young stopped 27 of 28 shots and denied three of five skaters during a shootout Sunday as the Chicago Wolves kept their early season record perfect with a 2-1 victory over the Long Beach Ice Dogs at Long Beach.
Scott Pearson scored his first goal of the year on the power play at the 8:56 mark of the second period to give Chicago a 1-0 lead. Andrei Vasilyev tallied his second with three minutes left in the period to tie the score.
The Wolves (3-0-0) then made four of their shots in the shootout while Long Beach made only two.
The Ice Dogs (1-1-1) have scored only one goal in each of the last two games.
Mike Buzak made his first start in goal for the Ice Dogs, stopping 23 of 24 shots.
