North-South Shuttle Line to Run to Shopping Centers

In an attempt to serve bus riders in the western part of the city, Carson has launched a pilot shuttle bus program that will carry residents living south of Sepulveda Boulevard to several shopping centers.

The North-South Carson Circuit Shuttle began operating Saturday and will offer free rides throughout the week to encourage people to use the service, Transportation Manager Deborah Brown said.

The shuttle runs from the intersection of Victoria and Main streets in the northern part of the city to the corner of Lomita and Avalon boulevards in the south.

The shuttle will also carry residents to bus stops where they can connect to other Carson Circuit routes, Torrance Transit and MTA, representatives said. The regular fare is 50 cents. The elderly and disabled can ride for free.

Brown said the city’s goal is 200 riders per day by the end of the year. She said 2,000 people ride the city’s other six bus routes daily.
