Cheesy High

Share

That high you feel? It’s not the cheese. Really, it’s not. OK, it’s HempRella, one of the first and only cheeses made from hempseed, but you won’t get busted for savoring its hickory smoked flavor. The unusual cheese, whose packaging sports a bright green leaf, does not contain THC--the psychoactive component of marijuana. It also doesn’t contain cholesterol and lactose, and has only about 3.5 grams of fat per serving. The product is made by Rella Good Cheese Co., which reminds folks on their press releases that “Hemp is Hope, not Dope.” For more information, take a trip to the company’s Web site at: https://www.rella.com.

Something to Chew On

Next time you get the urge to wolf down two pounds of licorice--don’t. That advice from a couple of Utah doctors who recently treated a 64-year-old man for a pulmonary edema brought on by eating four packages of Hershey’s Twizzlers. Doctors say licorice contains an acid that has been known to cause heart problems. Even so, such side effects from licorice are extremely rare. Doctors say that people who over-consume licorice really only have to worry about diarrhea.

Stepping Out

Ever see a hip youngster with an unsightly tattoo and think, “Wouldn’t a shoe sticker with a super-positive message really be a smarter, less painful way to go?” Well, some big executives at Denver-based Grafeeties Co. International Inc. thought just that and began marketing their “bumper stickers for shoes” to kids across the country. The adhesive messages shout out such messages as “Stomp Out Tobacco,” “Quit the Spit” and “Don’t Fear Rejection, Ask for Protection.” Try getting a tattoo like that.
